Risk, opportunity and financial effects
Risk, opportunity and financial impact analysis in aviation

I reassessed an aviation company’s risk and opportunity register alongside its operations and financial effects. I prepared an analysis explaining the significance of each topic through calculations and the sources used to support them.
Risk definitions and their connection to operations
I reviewed risk topics, definitions and their relationship to opportunities using the company team’s assessments and meeting notes. I distinguished different descriptions of the same topic and revised headings whose scope was unclear. I considered operational continuity and workforce matters alongside the company’s existing practices.
I matched each risk and opportunity to the measures being taken to reduce adverse effects or increase expected benefits. This made it possible to trace which activity related to each risk or opportunity directly within the assessment.
Financial calculations and assumptions
I realigned the financial impact calculations with the updated risk definitions. I organised the intermediate steps and placed the assumptions and sources beside each calculation. I also prepared the model references and scenario sources in a consistent format.
My aim was to allow reviewers to see which assumptions led to each result and which sources supported them. I presented anticipated financial effects separately from realised results.
Preparation of report disclosures
I drafted disclosures covering effects on the business model and value chain, time horizons, strategic links, and current and anticipated financial effects. I kept the language and scope consistent with the previous reporting period. I also identified matters concerning risk definitions and the materiality approach that needed to be discussed with the auditor.
Work prepared
I brought the risk and opportunity definitions, financial impact calculations, source references and draft disclosures together in one file. I organised it as a working document for the final assessment and preparation of the report.
